Blue cart — Recycling
Put paper and foil gift wrap, including metallic Christmas wrap and tissue paper, in the blue cart. Ribbons and bows go in the black cart.
How to prepare it
- Save larger sheets of wrap and tissue paper to reuse for the next gift.
- Pull off ribbons and bows; keep good ones for reuse and put worn-out ones in the black cart.
- Clear cellophane gift wrap is recyclable in the blue cart too.
- Recycle paper gift bags after cutting off rope handles, ribbons and metal rivets, which go in the black cart.
- Flatten gift boxes and put them in the blue cart with the wrap.
Good to know
The City's blue cart takes metallic and foil gift wrap as well as plain paper, so the main thing to remove is ribbons and bows. Keep wrap loose in the cart, not stuffed into a bag. After holidays or birthdays, take overflow to a community recycling depot rather than leaving it beside the cart.
