Magazines and catalogues: blue cart
Blue cart — Recycling
Put magazines, catalogues, brochures and phone books in the blue cart. Staples can stay in, but remove any plastic mailing wrap first.
How to prepare it
- Slide magazines out of plastic mailing sleeves or shrink wrap and recycle the plastic separately in the blue cart.
- Leave staples in place; you don't need to pull them out of magazines or catalogues.
- Take off elastic bands that hold bundles together, then reuse them or put them in the black cart.
- Place magazines loose in the cart instead of tying them in bundles or bagging them.
Good to know
For a catalogue bound like a book with a hard cover, tear off the cardboard cover and spine and recycle them separately from the pages; leather, canvas or plastic covers go in the black cart. Separate the coil from spiral-bound books first. If the cart is full, take extras to a community recycling depot.
