Why the blue cart?
Envelope paper recycles with the rest of the mixed-paper stream. The plastic address window and the gum on the flap are screened out during pulping, so windowed envelopes don’t need any prep.
Get it right
- Padded envelopes are different: paper-padded ones can be recycled, but bubble-wrap-lined ones go in the black cart unless you separate the layers.
- No need to remove stamps or labels.
- Junk mail, greeting cards and postcards all recycle the same way.
