GarbageCalgary.ca respects your privacy. We collect the minimum information needed to run the site and respond to enquiries.
What we collect
- Address searches: performed to show your schedule. We do not require an account to look up a schedule.
- Reminder subscriptions: if you sign up for pickup reminders, we store your email address, the address you chose and which carts you want reminders for. Every reminder email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and we use a double opt-in so nobody can sign you up without your confirmation.
- Contact messages: if you use the contact form, we keep your message and email address to reply to you.
- Basic logs: standard server logs (e.g. IP address) for security and abuse prevention.
Saving an address on your device
If you choose “Save address on this device,” this browser stores one address and its schedule identifier in local storage. We do not save an address automatically. This preference is separate from email reminders and does not create an account or subscription. Anyone using this browser can see the saved address. Remove it from the homepage or schedule page, or clear this site’s browser data. Saving is optional; address lookup works without it.
How we use it
We use the information above only to operate the site, deliver the reminders you asked for, and respond to your enquiries. We never sell your data.
Advertising and cookies
Our editorial guides show ads served by Google AdSense to cover hosting costs. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads and measure their performance; where permitted, ads may be personalised based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings and learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Schedule lookup, the disposal directory and item answers, community pages, and legal pages do not load our advertising script. Apart from advertising, GarbageCalgary.ca itself sets no tracking cookies.
