What it costs

Loads are charged by weight and material type, with a minimum charge on most loads. Sorting matters: clean, separated loads (e.g. yard waste, metal) are often cheaper than mixed garbage, and if hazardous items are mixed into a general load, the whole load is charged.

Free at the Eco Centres (residents only)

Eight fire-station hazardous-waste depots around the city take the same materials — see our depot locations guide.

Before you go

  • Tarp and secure your load — unsecured loads can be fined.
  • Residential drop-off only for the free programs; commercial loads are charged.
  • Check whether you even need the trip: many items go in your curbside carts. Look the item up first.
