Take leftover paint to an Alberta Recycling / Product Care depot for free. Empty, dried-out cans can go in the black cart.

Why it can’t go in a cart
Alberta’s paint recycling program reprocesses leftover paint into new paint and industrial products, funded by the eco-fee you paid at purchase — so drop-off is always free. Liquid paint in the cart leaks through the truck and contaminates everything it touches.
Get it right
- Eco Centres and Product Care depots take paint, stains, and aerosol paint cans at no charge.
- A can with only a thin dried film inside counts as empty — lid off, into the black cart.
- To dry out a small amount of latex paint, stir in cat litter or sand and leave the lid off.
- Half-usable cans are welcome at some reuse programs and community groups — ask before you toss.
