Calgary holiday garbage & recycling schedule
Good news: in Calgary, your carts are collected on almost every statutory holiday. Unlike many cities, Calgary does not shift the whole week's pickup after a holiday — outside of Christmas Day and New Year's Day, your collection day doesn't change.

What this means for you
- Regular holidays (Family Day, Canada Day, Thanksgiving, etc.): put your carts out by 7 a.m. exactly as you would any other week.
- Christmas Day and New Year's Day: if your normal pickup lands on one of these dates, the City may move it — check your address in our schedule lookup or the City's holiday page in December.
- Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve: no changes — collection runs as normal.
Never miss a shifted pickup
The easiest way to stay on top of holiday changes is a free email reminder the evening before each collection. Our schedule data comes from the City of Calgary Open Data portal and is refreshed weekly, so date changes flow through automatically. Look up your address and sign up here.
