About GarbageCalgary.ca

GarbageCalgary.ca is the fastest way to find your black, blue and green cart pickup days in Calgary — and to make sure the right things end up in the right bin.

Every household in Calgary deals with three carts on different schedules: weekly recycling, biweekly garbage, and compost that switches between weekly and biweekly with the seasons. It's easy to lose track. We built this tool so you can check your schedule in seconds — and know exactly which cart anything belongs in.

Where the data comes from

Collection schedules come from the City of Calgary's Open Data portal, which publishes the official pickup day and frequency for every serviced address in the city. We refresh this data regularly so seasonal changes are reflected automatically.

Our "What goes where" guidance is based on the City of Calgary's published cart and disposal rules. For hazardous materials, large items, and anything unusual, always confirm with the City before disposing.

Who runs this site

GarbageCalgary.ca is built and maintained by an independent software developer in Calgary — a resident who got tired of wheeling the wrong cart out at 6:55 a.m. The site launched in 2026 and is funded by a small amount of advertising; the lookup, reminders and guides are free and always will be. Schedule data is re-synced from the City's Open Data portal every week, and disposal guidance is checked against the City's published cart rules.

Independent service

GarbageCalgary.ca is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the City of Calgary. We aim to keep everything accurate, but the City's own schedule is the final authority.
