Flatten and place loose in the blue cart. Large boxes can be bundled beside the cart. Remove plastic tape and packing materials.

Why the blue cart?
Corrugated cardboard is one of the most valuable materials in the blue cart — it’s baled at the sorting facility and pulped into new boxes, and clean cardboard can be recycled several times before the fibres wear out.
Get it right
- Flatten every box — unflattened boxes fill your cart and jam the truck’s compactor.
- Boxes too big for the cart can be flattened, bundled with string, and set beside it.
- Pull out plastic air pillows, foam inserts and bubble wrap first — foam goes in the black cart, clean plastic film goes bagged in the blue cart.
- Waxed produce boxes (the shiny, wet-strength kind) are the exception — they go in the black cart.
