Why the green cart?
Paper towel fibres are too short to recycle, but they’re ideal composting material — they add carbon that balances wet food scraps and they break down completely at the composting facility.
Get it right
- Towels used with cleaning chemicals, paint or motor oil are the exception — those go in the black cart.
- The empty cardboard roll goes in the blue cart.
- Line your kitchen compost pail with a sheet of paper towel to keep it cleaner between empties.
