Paper/moulded-pulp egg cartons go in the green cart. Foam egg cartons go in the black cart.

Why the green cart?
Moulded-pulp cartons are made from fibres that are already at the end of their recycling life — too short to be pulped again, but they break down readily at the composting facility, so Calgary directs them to the green cart.
Get it right
- Foam egg cartons are polystyrene — those go in the black cart, not the green or blue.
- Clear plastic egg cartons are the third kind: empty and rinse those into the blue cart.
- Pulp cartons also make great seed-starting trays if you garden.
