Empty and rinse; recycle in the blue cart with lids removed. Refundable bottles can also go to a depot.

Why the blue cart?
Container glass is crushed into cullet and remelted — it recycles endlessly without losing quality. Lids come off because metal and glass are processed separately; the loose metal lids are captured by magnets and eddy currents.
Get it right
- Wine, beer and spirits bottles carry Alberta’s deposit — a bottle depot refunds 10¢ or 25¢ each.
- Metal lids go in the blue cart separately; plastic pump tops go in the black cart.
- Only container glass qualifies — drinking glasses, window glass and Pyrex are different formulations and go in the black cart.
