Concrete, brick and rubble

Why it can’t go in a cart
Masonry is far too heavy for cart collection — it damages carts and trucks — and clean concrete is actually recycled: crushed into aggregate for road base rather than landfilled.
Get it right
- Landfill fees are weight-based; clean loads of concrete and brick may qualify for a lower recycling rate.
- Small quantities of soil and sod also go to the landfill, never the green cart.
- Renovating? Some aggregate recyclers accept clean concrete directly, sometimes cheaper than the landfill.
