Why the black cart?
Toys mix rigid plastic with metal screws, fabric and often electronics — unsortable in the blue cart. The hierarchy is simple: donate what works, e-waste anything with a battery or cord, black cart for the truly broken rest.
Get it right
- Remove batteries from broken toys before binning and recycle the batteries separately.
- Anything that lights up, talks or moves counts as electronics — take it with your e-waste run.
- Thrift stores take complete games and puzzles; loose pieces and broken toys, they can’t use.
