Rubber and garden hoses: black cart
Black cart — Garbage
Put broken garden hoses and worn-out rubber items such as gloves, yoga mats and rubber belts in the black cart. Donate hoses that still work.
How to prepare it
- Coil or cut a long hose so it sits completely inside the black cart with the lid closed.
- Offer a working hose to friends or neighbours, list it online, or call a charity such as Women in Need Society to ask if it accepts one.
- Keep hoses out of the blue cart, which takes packaging only, not household products.
- Car tires don't go in any cart; take up to 12 a day to a City Eco Centre.
- Reuse elastic bands, or put worn-out ones in the black cart.
Good to know
The black cart is meant for household products you have finished with, and the City names hoses, gloves, yoga mats and automotive rubber belts among the rubber items that belong there. Tires are the exception: they are not allowed in the black cart, so take them to an Eco Centre instead. Whatever goes in the cart must fit with the lid closed.
