Empty and recycle in the blue cart with the lid on. Beverage containers are also eligible for the deposit refund at a bottle depot.

Why the blue cart?
PET beverage bottles are among the easiest plastics to recycle — they’re sorted optically, baled and turned into new bottles, fibre and packaging. In Alberta every beverage container also carries a deposit, so a bottle depot will literally pay you to recycle them.
Get it right
- Empty the bottle and put the lid back on — loose lids are too small to sort and end up as litter.
- Take bulk empties to a bottle depot for the refund: 10¢ for containers 1 L and under, 25¢ over 1 L.
- No need to remove labels or crush bottles flat.
