Why the blue cart?
HDPE jugs — milk, detergent, juice — are a valuable, easily identified plastic that gets remade into new bottles, pipe and plastic lumber. A quick rinse keeps residue from contaminating the bale.
Get it right
- A quick swish of water is enough; they don’t need to be dishwasher-clean.
- Screw the lid back on so it travels with the jug instead of falling through the sorting screens.
- Milk jugs carry an Alberta deposit too — return them to a bottle depot if you want the refund.
