Cut branches under 1 m long and 5 cm thick and place loose in the green cart. Bundle larger amounts beside the cart.

Why the green cart?
Woody material is chipped and composted with the rest of the green stream. The size limits exist because the collection truck’s arm and the facility’s grinders are built for household volumes — anything bigger needs the landfill’s yard-waste area.
Get it right
- Keep pieces under 1 metre long and 5 centimetres thick so the cart lid closes and the material grinds cleanly.
- Large pruning jobs or whole shrubs can go to any City landfill’s yard-waste drop-off.
- Don’t leave branches poking out of the cart — a jammed lid can mean a skipped pickup.
