Why it can’t go in a cart
Toasters, kettles and microwaves are largely recoverable steel, copper and aluminum. Landfill Throw ‘n’ Go areas separate them for metal recovery rather than burying them.
Get it right
- Working appliances are donation-store staples — reuse first.
- Microwaves count as electronics and are accepted with e-waste.
- Remove any batteries before drop-off and recycle them separately.
